AR32.25-P-0110TS Remove/Install Rear Shock Absorber
- except CODE (489) AIRmatic (semi-active air suspension)
Remove, Install
DANGER:
- Risk of fatal accident from vehicle slipping or toppling off the lift platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of lifting platform and position the four support plates below the support strong points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
CAUTION: See notes on self-locking nuts and screws
1 Remove side paneling in trunk
2 Unscrew nut (75a)
- Counterhold piston rod.
3 Remove washer (75b) and upper rubber mount (75i).
4 Remove cover (72c) of spring link.
5 Detach shock absorber (75) from spring link.
DANGER
- Risk of injury. Mechanism can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities.
- No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components.
6 Push together and remove shock absorber.
7 Remove lower rubber mount (75k).
Inspect
8 Inspect upper and lower rubber mount (75i, 75k).
NOTE: Replace cracked, oil fouled and deformed rubber mounts.
9 Inspect shock absorber (75)
- Replace if necessary.
10 Install in the reverse order.
