- with CODE (489) AIRmatic (semi-active air suspension)

Part 1:

Part 2:

Inspection

CAUTION: See special information on AIRmatic

1 Remove rear seat cushion (3).
2.1 Remove the front bottom part of noise encapsulation.
2.2 Remove front section of engine compartment paneling.
3 Remove left fender liner in front fender

NOTE: Only front section. To check AIRmatic central reservoir charge valve (Y36/6) and AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1).

4 Remove right side trunk lining.
5 Remove felt wrapping (5) from pressure line connector (4) and check that pressure lines (6) are pushed into pressure line connector (4) up to markings (arrows). Then spray pressure line connector (4) with leak detector spray.

NOTE:
- After spraying, wait for approx. 10 to 15 minutes. This allows smaller leaks to be detected (bubbles form). Larger leaks are visible immediately. If the pressure line connector (4) is defective, repair AIRmatic pressure line connection.
- Reinstall felt wrapping (5) after carrying out leak detection test.

6 Spray pressure line connections (LF, RF, RA, SP, P) at AIRmatic central reservoir charge valve (Y36/6), pressure line connection at AIRmatic compressor unit (1) and pressure line connection at central reservoir (42a) with leak detector spray.

NOTE: After spraying, wait for approx. 10 to 15 minutes. This allows smaller leaks to be detected (bubbles form). Larger leaks are visible immediately. If pressure line connections are defective (1, 42a, LF, RF, RA, SP, P), repair AIRmatic pressure line connection.

7 Spray the area around the casting and the pressure line connections (40a, 41a) on the front suspension strut (40), air spring (41) and on the rear axle distributor unit (2) with a leak detector spray.

NOTE: After spraying, wait for approx. 10 to 15 minutes. This allows smaller leaks to be detected (bubbles form). Larger leaks are visible immediately. If pressure line connections are defective (40a, 41a), repair AIRmatic pressure line connection.
