Parktronic Triggers without Obvious Cause
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of Parktronic (PTS) triggering without any obvious cause, the front PTS sensors may be reacting too sensitively. New front sensors are available which are less sensitive and should be installed per the below procedure. The front PTS sensors and locations are:
A42b2 - center left sensor on front bumper
A42b3 - inside left sensor on front bumper
A42b4 - inside right sensor on front bumper
A42b5 - center right sensor on front bumper
1. Check front PTS sensors for their sensitivity, as detailed in WIS document: AF54.65-P-2002-01A
2. Remove/install/replace front PTS sensors.
NOTE:
- Do not install any less sensitive sensors into the rear bumper.
- If a fault code is stored in the PTS control unit (e.g. sensor faulty), it is not necessary to install a less sensitive sensor.
- License plate frames should not be installed on the front bumper.
