SRS High Resistance for Side Airbag / DTC 9290 and/or 92A0
If you encounter instances in the above model vehicles of the following fault codes being stored in the airbag control module, the connector for the side airbag squib (R12/9 and or R12/10) may need to be replaced. Follow the procedure below to repair.
^ 9290 Resistance value in the ignition circuit component R12/9 (Driver-side airbag ignition squib) is too high
^ 92A0 Resistance value in the ignition circuit component R12/10 (Front passenger side airbag ignition squib) is too high
Note:
It is recommended that both the left and right Side Airbag connectors be changed at the same time.
1. Replace existing harness with part number A211 540 81 05. If this spare part is not available, proceed with steps 2 through 9.
2. Remove the front seat's seat back. Refer to WIS document AR91.10-P-1910T.
3. Disconnect the squib connector (Driver Side R12/9, Passenger Side R12/10) from the Side Airbag (Figure 1).
4. The repair harness connector will be spliced in below where the ground wire enters the taped covered area. Remove the tape to expose where the splice will be made.
5. Cut the wires on the harness in the vehicle and cut the new harness to match the same length. (Figure 2)
Note:
The new repair harness does not have the same coloring on the wires! Follow the table shown to match the colors.
6. Splice the repair harness wires into the factory harness (Figure 3) and re-tape over the splices when finished.
7. Reconnect squib connector to Side Airbag.
8. Reinstall the front seat's seat back.
9. Using STAR Diagnosis, erase any stored fault codes.
