GF82.85-P-3004TC Data Exchange Between The Operating Unit And Instrument Cluster, Function

15.03.07 The document has been updated to this date and will no longer be subject to revision.

Operation of the audio system at the multifunction steering wheel (MFL)
With the aid of the buttons on the MFL and the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1), various systems controlled via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) ring can be operated and information on the systems displayed. These include:
^ Audio systems such as radio, CD changer, etc.
^ Telephone

The entire data exchange between the instrument cluster (A1) and the radio (A2) takes place via the MOST and the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B). All the button operations on the MFL are read in voltage-coded by the steering column module (N80) and placed on the Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN).

The instrument cluster (A1) recognizes the coded messages and initiates the display of the system that is currently active or operated (audio, navigation, telephone) via the multifunction display (A1p13).
At the same time, the radio (A2) picks up the commands for controlling the functions (audio, navigation, telephone) within the MOST system. It converts them into light pulses and thus actuates the necessary system components.
The instrument cluster (A1) receives from the control panel the current time, since it is automatically received via the Global Positioning System (GPS) and thus does not have to be adjusted.
