70 Fuel main filter

Location
The fuel main filter is located between both cylinder heads in the V of the engine.

Task
The task of the fuel main filter is to filter contaminants from the fuel.
For OM 642.920/940/950 with code (494) USA version, the fuel main filter also has the task of removing water in the fuel.

Design
The fuel main filter is a replaceable cartridge and consists of a metal housing and an integral paper filter.
For OM 642.920/940/950 with code (494) USA version, the fuel main filter is fitted with an additional membrane for water separation and a fuel filter water level sensor (B76).

Function
The fuel flows in the fuel main filter through the paper filter, at the same time impurities are retained physically in the filter. At engine start, the fuel system is bled automatically.
