AR40.20-P-0301T Check Front & Rear Axle With Inclination Instrument and Adjust
Check Vehicle Level At Front and Rear With Electronic Inclination Meter and Adjust, If Necessary
Measurement Point 1 (Right Front) Illustrated:
Measurement Point 3 (Left Rear) Illustrated:
1 Prepare for chassis alignment check
2 Check vehicle level at the front axle via the spring link inclination
- Clean measurement points on spring link (17)
CAUTION: The connecting cable (086b) for the sensor must point towards the center of the vehicle otherwise the measurement will be incorrect.
- Position test sensor (086a) on track control arm (17) between the cast supports (arrows) and store each of the test results.
- Measurement point 1 (left front)
- Measurement point 2 (right front)
NOTE: Vehicle with metal springs: If the front ride height is outside of specification. Replace the springs or the rubber spring bushings to adjust the vehicle ride height.
3 Check vehicle level at the rear axle via the rear axle shaft inclination.
- Clean measurement points on rear axle shaft (65).
CAUTION: The connecting cable (086b) for the sensor must point towards the center of the vehicle otherwise the measurement will be incorrect.
- Fit measurement sensor (086a) on rear axle shaft (65) and save each measured value.
- Measurement point 3 (left rear)
- Measurement point 4 (right rear)
NOTE:
- Vehicle with metal springs: If the rear ride height is outside of specification, Replace the springs or the rubber spring bushings to adjust the vehicle ride height.
- Observe specified maximum tilt-angle variation between left and right sides of vehicle
- The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the vehicle level and not for calibration.
4 Use STAR DIAGNOSIS to calibrate vehicle ride height
- Vehicles with AIRMATIC DC.
NOTE:
- Only if the vehicle level is outside the test tolerance.
- Possible causes and remedies when the vehicle level is not OK after calibration:
- Mount for level sensor is bent out of shape
5 Check and correct headlamp adjustment
- Only if the vehicle level was adjusted.
