Procedures
A. Rattling noises at glove compartment lid
Models 211.065/070/076 up to VIN A169194
The preload of the glove compartment lid may be set too weak, and rattling of the cover in the striker occurs as a result.
1. Adjust glove compartment lid. (See WIS-document AR68.10-P-1300T)
Note:
Increase preload of cover by adjusting the striker (loosen and adjust striker Figure 2).
B. Noises in the area of the instrument cluster frame
Models 211.026/065/070/076/082/083/265/282/283 up to VIN A661031 or X170277
The instrument cluster frame may rub on the instrument cluster when driving. This complaint occurs under conditions such as rough road surfaces.
1. Remove instrument cluster. (See WIS-document AR54.30-P-6015T)
2. Stick felt strip (material thickness: 1 mm) at the bottom of the ribs of the instrument cluster frame (Figure 3).
Note:
See Parts ordering notes
3. Install instrument cluster. (See WIS-document AR54.30-P-6015T)
C. Buzzing noises in the area of the centerfill
Models 211.026/065/070/076/082/083/265/282/283 up to VIN A610907 or X165861
Buzzing noises in the area of the centerfill may occur when driving. This is caused by there being too much play in the centerfill cover.
1. Remove cover for speaker. (See WIS-document AR68.10-P-1050T)
2. Apply felt (material thickness: 1 mm) in order to brace the grill. (1, Figure 4)
3. Install cover for speaker. MODEL 211.0 /2 up to 31.5.04 (See WIS-document AR68.10-P-1050T).
D. Buzzing noises in the area of the centerfill
Models 211.026/056/065/070/076/082/083/087/256/265/276/282/283/287 from VIN A610908 up to A774106 or from X165862 to 183662
Buzzing noises in the area of the centerfill may occur when driving. This is caused by there being too much play in the centerfill cover.
1. Remove cover for speaker. (See WIS-document AR68.10-P-1050TA)
2. Apply felt (material thickness: 1 mm) and replace the grill. (1, Figure 5)
3. Install cover for speaker. (See WIS-document AR68.10-P-1050TA).
E. Noises in the area of the A-pillar
Model 211.026/056/065/070/076/082/083/087/256/265/276/282/283/287 up to VIN A939965 or X202587
Creaking and knocking noises in the area of the instrument panel near the A-pillar may occur when driving. Creaking noises may occur due to the instrument panel clips rubbing on the crossmember under the windshield. Knocking noises may occur due to the clips contacting the air duct.
1. Remove top section of instrument panel. (See WIS-document AR68.10-P-1020T)
2. Cover clips on left and right with felt (material thickness: 1 mm).
Note:
The felt should cover the spring shackle of the clip (Figure 6).
3. As the instrument panel is already removed, check whether the repair in section F has been performed. If not, complete this measure.
Note:
Operation number 68-4605 may only be claimed once if the repairs in section E & F are both performed. Attempts to claim this procedure twice will result in the claim being debited.
4. Install upper section of instrument panel. (See WIS-document AR68.10-P-1020T)
F. Noises in the area of the instrument panel, center to windshield
Models 211.026/065/070/076/082/083/265/282/283 up to VIN A610906 or X165860
Rattling noises in the area near the center of the instrument panel or the windshield occur due to the instrument panel contacting the crossmember under the wind deflector and causing rattling noises on rough roads when driving.
1. Remove top section of instrument panel. (See WIS-document AR68.10-P-1020T)
2. Apply felt (material thickness: 3 mm) onto retaining tab (2, Figure 7).
3. As the instrument panel is already removed, check whether the repair in section E has been performed.
