GF54.30-P-2011TM Display Monitoring/Warning Messages Via Indicator Lamps, Function

GF54.30-P-2011TM Display Monitoring/warning Messages Via Indicator Lamps, Function

Component Identification:

Turn signal indicator lamps
The left turn signal indicator lamp and the right turn signal indicator lamp are integrated into the instrument cluster to provide a visual check. These are activated differently according to function. If one of the turn signal lamps fails, the triggered indicator lamp flashes at twice the frequency.

When functioning as hazard warning flashers and anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) flashers, the left turn signal indicator lamp and the right turn signal indicator lamp are actuated simultaneously.

While direction signaling is only possible when terminal 15 is switched ON, the other types of turn signal modes are also possible when terminal 15 is switched OFF. An acoustic signal accompanies the rhythmic flashing of the indicator lamp (A1h2).

When different demands for flasher operation are present, the system assigns hierarchical priorities in the following sequence:
^ Electronic alarm system flashers (highest priority)
^ Hazard warning flashers (2nd priority)
^ Turn indicators (3rd priority)

The turn signal confirmation when the vehicle is opened or closed is handled in the same way as the hazard warning flashers.

High beam indicator lamp
The high beam indicator lamp is actuated with high beam "ON" and headlamp flasher "ON".

Low beam indicator lamp
With low beam "ON", the low beam indicator lamp is actuated.

Fuel reserve indicator lamp
The fuel reserve warning lamp lights up as soon as the reserve level is reached. Its actuation is linked to the fuel level and reserve indicator.

Brake fluid and parking brake warning lamp
This warning lamp is actuated at the start of a journey if the brake fluid level is below the minimum level. The warning lamp remains lit until the parking brake is released.

In (United States of America) is located the symbol "Brake" instead off "(!)" In the instrument cluster.

Seat belt warning lamp
The seat belt warning lamp is actuated as follows:
^ The seat belt warning lamp lights up when the circuit status is "Circuit 61 ON", the vehicle speed is >25 km/h and the driver seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/3) is not closed. The seat belt warning lamp goes out as soon as the driver seat belt buckle restraint systems switch is closed.
^ The seat belt warning lamp lights up when the circuit status is "circuit 61 ON", the vehicle speed is >25 km/h, the front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor (B48) has detected a person or a child seat and the front passenger seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/4) is not closed. The seat belt warning lamp goes out as soon as the front passenger seat belt buckle restraint systems switch is closed.

On USA vehicles, seat occupation is detected by the WSS (Weight Sensing System) control unit (N2/13).

Safety system lamps
The airbag indicator and warning lamp is actuated when there is a fault in the supplemental restraint system (SRS). It is actuated directly by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) over a discrete line. The ABS indicator lamp is actuated when there is a fault in the antilock brake system (ABS). Depending on the national version, vehicles are equipped with either the engine diagnosis indicator lamp or the CHECK ENGINE indicator lamp (A1e26). The lamp is activated if there is a fault in the injection system, the ignition system or the exhaust system.

DTR warning lamp
If the following distance is dropped below the DTR warning lamp lights up red. An acoustic signal also sounds.

Light sources
The high beam indicator lamp and the low beam indicator lamp (as of 1.6.05) are fitted with bulbs. All other indicator and warning lamps in the instrument cluster are fitted with light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Tire pressure monitor warning lamp
In addition to the warning message in the multifunction display, it lights up yellow when a rapid pressure loss of ≥0.2 bar/min is detected.

Apart from the actuations described above all the indicator and warning lamps are also actuated on the lamp test with the following exceptions:
^ Left and right turn signal indicator lamp
^ High beam indicator lamp
^ Preglow indicator lamp (A1e16) (diesel)
^ Seat belt warning lamp

The actuation of some indicator and warning lamps, e.g. the engine diagnosis indicator lamp, is accompanied by the appearance of a warning message in the multifunction display. While some categories of message can be acknowledged and canceled, the warning and indicator lamps remain on for as long as the problem remains present. Messages cannot be acknowledged.
