AR83.30-P-5200T Remove/Install AC Housing
- Without heater booster












DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on dosed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning. Inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors may be toxic. Risk of injury. Contact with liquid refrigerant may result in injury to the skin and eyes.
- Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or open flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.


CAUTION: Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work.

1 Drain air conditioning (recycle)

NOTE: Note quantity of extracted compressor oil.

CAUTION: Installation: If the compressor is filled with the incorrect quantity of oil the refrigerant compressor may be damaged.

NOTE: Installation: Evacuate air conditioning system and when filling the air conditioning system add the noted quantity of compressor oil to the refrigerant circuit (new compressor oil). Check air conditioning system for leakage.

2 Unscrew nut (4)
- Nut on expansion valve: 10 N.m

3 Remove pressure and intake line (2, 3) from expansion valve (1

NOTE: Seal the openings in the suction line (2) and pressure line (3), otherwise there may be an ingress of dirt or moisture.

- Set of plugs for air conditioning system.
See "Commercially Available Tools" given below.

NOTE: Installation: Replace sealing rings and moisten thread with compressor oil.

4 Removing heat exchanger shutoff motor

NOTE: Seal heating water lines to heat exchanger.

- Set of plugs for air conditioning system.
See "Commercially Available Tools" given below.

5 Remove cross member below instrument panel
6 Pull evaporator housing (5) to rear, lift and simultaneously move out of rear footwell air ducts (8)

NOTE: Installation: Insert evaporator housing (5) into lightly greased pilot studs (6) attached to body.

7 Unclip electrical wiring harness (arrow) at the top of the AC housing (5)
8 Press the floor covering on the transmission tunnel to one side and pull off the condensate drain hoses (7) on the left and right of the AC housing (5)

NOTE: Installation: Pay attention to the correct seating of the condensate drain hoses (7) on the AC housing (5) and transmission tunnel, otherwise the condensate cannot drain outwards.

- Use lubricant

9 Remove evaporator housing (5)

NOTE: Installation: Use new seals between the AC housing (5) and body.

10 Replace receiver/drier
11 Install in the reverse order.
