REPLACE AIR DUCT ASSEMBLY
This Service Campaign has been initiated because DAG has determined that on the affected vehicles an incorrect air duct assembly may have been installed leading to insufficient air flow to the engine. Dealers are to replace the air duct assembly in all affected vehicles.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the procedure steps exactly as described.
Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 57 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
1. Detach radiator from radiator support:
^ Detach retaining lugs (arrow, Figure 1) at top left and right.
^ Remove rubber mounts located under retaining lugs.
2. Remove 6 clips (arrows, Figure 2) securing air duct assembly to vehicle.
3. Detach horn (A, Figure 2).
4. Remove air duct assembly:
^ Push radiator backwards slightly then detach left air duct (arrow, Figure 3).
^ Detach rubber insulation (A) by prying out from under radiator support (C) using a plastic wedge.
CAUTION!:
Be careful not to damage A/C condenser and/or radiator.
^ Detach right air duct.
^ Remove cap (arrow, Figure 4) from either left or right air duct then route air duct assembly out from behind hood latch/Distronic bracket (B, Figure 3).
Note:
^ The air ducts cannot be removed with cap (arrow, Figure 4) attached to the air duct.
5. Install new air duct assembly in reverse order.
