SUBJECT:

REPLACE ENGINE OIL FILLER NECK SEAL (OM642 ENGINE)

This Service Campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that on affected diesel vehicles an engine oil filler neck seal with an extended collar should be installed to prevent oil from spilling onto the engine when filling the engine oil. Dealers will replace the engine oil filler neck seal with a filler neck seal with an extended collar.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired. If necessary, repair the subject vehicle during the vehicle's next service.

^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the procedure steps exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 4,054 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

1. Remove engine cover.

2. Remove existing seal (A, Figure 1) from engine oil filler neck opening.

3. Install new seal at engine oil filler neck (Figure 2).
