Remove/Install Left Or Right Front Rpm Sensor

DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.


1.1 Remove engine compartment paneling
- Vehicles with gasoline engines

NOTE: Only remove front part

1.2 Remove bottom part of noise encapsulation
- Vehicles with diesel engines

NOTE: Only remove front part

2 Press detent (2) upwards using a screwdriver and pull rpm sensor connector (signals) (X62) out of bracket (10) in direction of arrow
3 Unplug rpm sensor connector (signals) (X62)
4 Unclip electric feed line from retaining clips

NOTE: Installation: Observe routing of lines.

5 Unscrew bolt (6a)

NOTE: Installation: Install new bolt.

6 Pull front left or right rpm sensor (L6/1, L6/2) out of steering knuckle (5)

CAUTION: Installation: installation position must be noted. The scuff protection (3) must be bolted to front rpm sensor. It must not be installed between the left or right front rpm sensor (L6/1, L6/2) and the steering knuckle (5) as this may damage the cable.

7 Install in the reverse order
8 Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase

NOTE: Stored faults must be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work. The stored faults can be caused by defective components, assembly as well as lines disconnected during test work and by simulation.
