Remove/Install

DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Risk of injury, body parts may become jammed or crushed. Risk of injury, skin and eyes may be injured due to brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system
- Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.


1 Raise vehicle.
2 Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.

CAUTION: See notes on repairs to brake system

3 Remove crossmember (35)
4.1 Detach heat shields (105d, 105e) from body and push backwards
- Model 211.004/006/206/016/216/026/226/042/242/043/243/061/261/065/265

4.2.1 Separate heat shields (105d, 105e) and detach from body
- Model 211.028/070/270/076/276

4.2.2 Remove both halves of heat shield (105e)
- Model 211.028/070/270/076/276

5 Detach retracting spring (94) from bridge (70)

NOTE: Installation: After installing retracting spring (94), slacken automatic cable slack adjuster (92)

6 Unhook front brake cable (85) from automatic cable slack adjuster (92)
7 Pre-tension automatic slack adjuster (92)
8 Unhook rear brake cable (86) from automatic cable slack adjuster (92)
9 Unclip rear brake cable (86) from bridge (70) using snap-release tool (042)
10 Pull rear brake cable (86) out of front center assembly suspension (51)

CAUTION: While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surface of all aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be reduced.

NOTE: Lever grommet (86a) out of front center assembly suspension (51).

11 Remove parking brake shoes
12 Pull rear brake cable (86) out of wheel carrier (7)
13 Press retaining collar (86b) together and pull downwards out of bracket (86c) with rear brake cable (86)
14 Install in the reverse order

Inspect
15 Check version of pedal assembly

16 Adjust parking brake
17 Activate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
18 Use STAR DIAGNOSIS to move brake pads toward brake disks
