Remove/Install Front Brake Control Cable







Remove/Install

DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.


1.1 Remove bottom part of noise encapsulation
- Vehicles with diesel engines

NOTE: Only rear part.

1.2 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling
- Vehicles with gasoline engines

NOTE: Only rear part.

2 Remove crossmember (35)
3.1 Detach heat shields (105d, 105e) from body and push backwards
- Model 211.004/006/206/016/216/026/226/042/242/043/243/061/261/065/265

3.2.1 Separate heat shields (105d, 105e) and detach from body
- Model 211.028/070/270/076/276

3.2.2 Remove both halves of heat shield (105e)
- Model 211.028/070/270/076/276

4 Unhook front brake cable (85) from automatic cable slack adjuster (91)

NOTE:
- Pre-tension automatic cable slack adjuster (91) to do this.
- Installation: to attach front brake cable (85), pre-tension automatic cable slack adjuster (91) again.
- Installation: after attaching front brake cable (85), slacken automatic cable slack adjuster (91)

5 Remove retaining clips (85a) from propeller shaft tunnel

NOTE: Installation: Install new retaining clips (85a).

6 Unclip front brake cable (85) from bridge (70)
7 Remove front left floor covering
8 Remove retaining clips (85a) in driver footwell

NOTE: Installation: Install new retaining clips (85a).

9 Remove supporting wedge (17)
10 Unhook front brake cable (85) from tensioning shackle (85b)

NOTE: Installation: Ensure rubber ring (85c) is installed in correct position in tensioning shackle (85b).

11 Unclip front brake cable (85) from pedal assembly (71)
12 Lever grommet (85d) out of propeller shaft tunnel and pull front brake cable (85) into passenger compartment

NOTE: Installation: Push front brake cable (85) outwards from inside the passenger compartment.

13 Install in the reverse order

Inspect
14 Check version of pedal assembly (71)

15 Operate parking brake pedal and check pedal travel of parking brake pedal

NOTE:
- If the pedal travel is not within the tolerance range then adjust parking brake
- Control force on parking brake pedal
- Number of notches that parking brake pedal has to be pressed
