Popping Noise When Brake Pedal is Quickly Depressed
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicle of a popping noise when quickly depressing the brake pedal, perform the following:
1. Replace the master cylinder with a revised part. Refer to WIS document AR42.10-P-0300T.
2. Check the object number and Q-level of the brake booster (Figure 1, A).
3. If the following object numbers listed below appear on the label, then the brake booster must be replaced with a revised part. Refer to WIS document AR43.10-P-0350T.

^ A211 430 03 30 Q2
^ A211 430 04 30 Q1
^ A211 430 04 30 Q2
Note:
The noise does not impair the braking power and is only an accompanying acoustic effect.
Note:
The Adaptive Braking System (ABR) has a high brake boost level which is achieved by a high vacuum level and the large cross section of the control valve in the brake booster. As a result of this, combined with component tolerances, an abrupt "pop" noise may be produced when the brake pedal is quickly depressed.
