GF80.61-P-3012T Engine Start/Stop, Function

GF80.61-P-3012T Engine Start/Stop, Function
- with CODE (889) Keyless Go

Component Identification:

Function
The engine can be started or switched off by pressing the KEYLESS-GO start and stop pushbutton (S2/3) on the selector lever.

Start engine

Function requirements
^ The transmitter key (A8/1) is located in the vehicle interior
^ Selector lever is in position "P" or "N"
^ Service brake applied

Function sequence
1. Press KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) on selector lever.
2. A wake-up signal is transmitted to the transmitter key (A8/1).
3. Location finding signals are transmitted by the KEYLESS-GO trunk antenna (A2/35), left rear door KEYLESS-GO control unit (N69/8), right rear door KEYLESS-GO control unit (N69/9) and the interior module KEYLESS-GO control unit (N103).
4. The position of the transmitter key (A8/1) is transmitted via the right antenna amplifier module (A2/65) to the rear module keyless go control unit (N102).
5. Checking rear module KEYLESS-GO control unit (N102) for valid transmitter key (A8/1).
6. Transmitting drive authorization code to EIS control unit (N73) and electric steering lock control unit (N26/5).
7. If the tests were positive, circuit 15R and circuit 15, are switched on - if not already switched on, the steering lock is unlocked via the electric steering lock control unit (N26/5) and the engine is started.

If applicable, any errors occurring are output by the instrument cluster (A1).

Switch off engine
Function requirement
^ Selector lever is in position "P" or "N"

The position of the transmitter key (A8/1) is not checked.

Function sequence
1. Press KEYLESS GO start/stop button (S2/3) on selector lever.

Circuit 15 is switched off. When the driver door is closed, circuit 15C remains active and the steering is unlocked.

Additional actuation possibilities are illustrated in the following table.

Warning messages
^ If a front door is opened when the engine is running and the vehicle is standing still, the EIS control unit (N73) checks the key when restarting. If a valid transmitter key (A8/1) is not recognized in the interior compartment of the vehicle, the instrument cluster (A1) indicates "Key not recognized". The engine remains on, but the car should be taken to a workshop without delay. If the transmitter key (A8/1) is available, the vehicle should be restarted with the transmitter key (A8/1).
^ If a transmitter key (A8/1) is not recognized in the interior compartment when starting, the instrument cluster (A1) indicates "Key not recognized" and the start attempt is interrupted (circuit 15R and circuit 15 remain off).
^ If the selector lever is not in position "P" or "N" when an attempt is made to start, the instrument cluster (A1): "Selector lever to P or N".
^ If the transmitter key (A8/1) is recognized analog circuit switching is accomplished. If the selector lever is not in position "P" or "N" when an attempt is made to switch the engine off, the note "Selector lever to P or N" appears in the instrument cluster (A1).
^ If the selector lever is not in position "P" when the engine is switched off, an audible warning signal sounds and the following text appears in the instrument cluster (A1): "Selector lever to P or N".
^ If the circuits described are activated through the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) and a valid transmitter key (A8/1) is inserted into the EIS control unit (N73), the transmitter key (A8/1) is given priority if the selector lever in position "P". If running, the engine is switched off.
^ If, after starting the engine, the transmitter key (A8/1) can no longer be located in the interior compartment (system error or transmitter key (A8/1) not present), a warning message is output via the instrument cluster (A1) for approx. 5 s. This is repeated every 5 km. After driving > 20 km, a continuous warning message is output and an intermittent gong sounds.

- Vehicles up to 31.5.07:
The next time the vehicle stops (v = 0 km/h) the engine is automatically switched off.

- Vehicles as of 1.6.07:
These warning messages are output until the driver shuts off the engine (no automatic switch-off of the engine).

In this case, it is no longer possible to start the engine on both versions.
