Parktronic Triggers Without Obvious Cause at the Front Bumper Due to License Plate Width
If you receive customer reports on the above model vehicles exhibiting all of the below symptoms, this may be caused by the side edges of the license plate being detected as an obstruction by the PTS sensor. Due to varying license plate widths, the system may trigger at the front at random.
1. Parktronic triggering without obvious cause at the front sensors
2. No faults are present or stored in the parktronic control unit
3. The complaint does not occur when the front license plate is removed
NOTE:
No additional license plate frame should be mounted on the front bumper.
To resolve, follow steps below to program license plate width:
1. Information and Communication -> Parktronic -> Control unit adaptations -> Read coding and modify if necessary->License plate bracket
2. Code the actual width of the license plate bracket.
NOTE: The license plate width can only be coded on
- 211 models that contain parktronic control unit part no. A211 545 38 32 or higher
- 230 models that contain parktronic control unit part no. A230 545 26 32 or higher
- 216, 219, and 221 models since start of production
