GF82.60-P-2003TC Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function

All volume and tone settings are made at the radio (A2). It is necessary to distinguish between audio sources and service sources:

Audio sources are
^ Radio
^ CD player

Service sources include:
^ Traffic radio announcements
^ Telephone

Volume setting
The volume setting for each of the selected audio sources is controlled by the rotary knob on the radio (A2). In addition, the volume can be set separately in all audio and service areas (telephone, traffic information radio channel). The Traffic Program Volume (TPV) softkey assignment allows the volume for the traffic information to be increased or decreased. The RESET function allows predefined settings for the sound parameters including volume to be selected and reset to the factory settings.

Speed-dependent volume control/dynamic range optimization
The volume in the vehicle interior is adapted via speed-dependent volume control (GAL) and automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation, known as Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO).

In the process the vehicle speed signal and signal input to the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) are used as a relationship indicator.

Mute (volume reduction)
If the user presses the "Mute" function key, the audio source currently being listened to is muted, and the audio CD drives change to pause status. The muting function status can also be triggered automatically.
The following mutings are possible:
^ TAXI-MUTE
^ TEL-MUTE
^ DOOR-SENSOR-MUTE
^ TP MUTE

If the vehicle has a factory-installed telephone, the radio (A2) switches to telephone mode in the event of a call, and the audio source is muted.

Tone setting
The radio (A2) has manual tone settings (bass, treble, balance, fader) available for each audio source.
The AUDIO function status can be accessed from every other function state except AUTO-ON.
In display field 2, the bass is displayed as the first tone setting called up.
By pressing the "AUDIO" function key repeatedly, the other tone controls for treble, balance (left/right), fader (front/rear), TPV (increased volume for traffic announcements) can be accessed. The messages for the "AUDIO" function status are shown in display field 1. The tone control only relates to the active system function status.
With a change in sound emphasis (balance, fader) the ratio of the volume of the individual speakers changes.
The "Balance" and "Fader" settings are accessed by pressing the main function key for sound distribution in the left control field.

Processing of the signals for the required volume and tone adjustments is done by the integrated audio component. The volume for information services can be set separately.
