The connection between the data transmission unit and special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS]) (N26/9) is provided by a RS485 bus. The special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS]) (N26/9) is the master in the bus and cyclically queries the status of the data transmission unit.
The special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS]) (N26/9) as a gateway controls the flow of data between RS485 bus and CAN-interior. This data transfer is used for displaying texts of the radio data transmission in the instrument cluster (A1) or for transmitting button actuations from the multifunction steering wheel and the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) to the radio data transmission.
The special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS]) (N26/9) does not interpret the content of the data. The control of the data flow as well as the interpretation of the data content are the tasks of the two terminals, data transmission unit and instrument cluster (A1).
The special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS]) (N26/9) transmits navigation destination data from the data transmission unit via the CAN-interior to the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56).
The special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS]) (N26/9) transmits general, cyclical information (such as speed, terminal status, GPS data) as broadcast messages on the bus.
The radio data transmission keyboard (A49/5) on the RS485 bus is used for entering numbers. The radio data transmission keyboard (A49/5) is queried cyclically by the special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS]) (N26/9) with regard to its status.
The response of the radio data transmission keyboard (A49/5) (key status) can be received by all control units on the RS485 bus.
The following data are exchanged for the radio data transmission control on the RS485 bus:
