GF82.85-P-3114-08TU Operating Display Unit With Control Module, Function
- with CODE (528) HIGH Class USA

Operating elements
The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) contains a graphics/and video-capable 6.5"-color display for presenting the relevant information in each case as well as the function keys for operating the system. Part of the controls are assigned with fixed functions, i.e. they always trigger the same reaction irrespective of the mask applied in each case. The functionality of the remaining controls depends on the current screen applied. The components integrated in the system are connected via the MOST ring. As a result the components do not need any individual controls.
It should be noted that the data and signals are transmitted via the MOST ring to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is equipped with an integral multistandard disk drive for Video DVD, Audio CD and MP3 CD-ROM.

Graphic editing and image output
The graphic subsystem edits and outputs the operating displays. The operating masks are internally output to the display by the graphics subsystem via the RGB output (R=red, G=green, B=blue). The information and amplitudes of the 3 colors red, green and blue as well as a synchronization signal are included in the RGB signal. The control electronics in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) evaluates the RGB signal and actuates the individual screen dots in rows by color and intensity.A horizontal synchronization pulse occurs at the end of each line. The electronics of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) thereupon actuates the next row.

Function of audio AUX
With this subfunction additional audio sources (e.g. an MP3 player) can be integrated in the front entertainment. For this purpose an AUX bush is located in the glove box as provision for connection.

Display
On the 6.5" color display of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3), the submenus are displayed depending on the choice of the permanently programmed main function keys (function groups). 5 function key are attached on the left and right edge of the display. The buttons are positioned so that the submenus displayed can be selected conveniently.

Off-board diagnosis, STAR DIAGNOSIS
The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) has its own diagnostic trouble code memory.
When interrogating the diagnostic trouble code memory by means of STAR DIAGNOSIS, the data are transmitted to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) via the MOST ring and can then be read out via the interface of the central gateway control unit (N93). Output of the errors on the display unit is not possible.
