- with CODE (529) HIGH Class Japan
Operating elements
The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) contains a graphics/and video-capable 6.5" color display for presenting the relevant information in each case as well as the function keys for operating the system. Part of the controls are assigned with permanent functions, i.e. they always trigger the same reaction irrespective of the screen applied in each case. The functionality of the remaining controls depends on the current screen applied. The components that are integrated in the system are connected via the MOST ring. As a result the components do not need any individual controls.
It should be observed that the data and signals are transmitted via MOST and via the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).
Graphic editing and image output
The operating masks are internally output to the display by the graphics subsystem via the RGB output (R=red, G=green, B=blue). The information and amplitudes of the three basis colors red, green and blue as well as a synchronization signal are contained in the RGB signal.
The control electronics in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) evaluates the red-green-blue signal and actuates the individual display picture elements line by line based on color and intensity. A horizontal synchronization pulse occurs at the end of each line. As a result, the electronics of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) actuates the next line.
Display
On the 6.5" color display of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) the submenus are displayed depending on selection of the fixed programmed main function keys (function groups). 5 function key are attached on the left and right edge of the display. The keys are positioned to allow for easy selection of the displayed submenus.
Off-board diagnosis, STAR DIAGNOSIS
The COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) has its own diagnostic trouble code memory.
When the diagnostic trouble code memory is interrogated by means of STAR DIAGNOSIS, the data are transmitted to the audio gateway control module (N93/1) via the MOST and can then be read out via the central gateway control module (N93) interface. An error output via COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is not possible.
