GF82.85-P-0003-06TM Cockpit Management and Data System (COMAND) Volume/Tone Setting

GF82.85-P-0003-06TM Cockpit Management And Data System (COMAND) Volume/Tone Setting
- with CODE (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)
- with CODE (530) COMAND APS USA (with navigation system)

All volume/sound settings are performed in the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and are transmitted via the MOST (Media Oriented System Transport) to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).
The signal processing required for the volume and tone settings is performed via the audio component integrated into the audio gateway control unit.

The audio amplifier is located in the audio gateway control unit. If the vehicle is equipped with code (810) Sound system, a digital sound processor enables additional stereo sound settings and an extended final amplification of the audio signals to be performed.

Volume setting
The volume of the audio source selected can be adjusted using the rotary switch on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit. This can be adjusted separately in all audio and service areas (telephone, audio).
With the RESET function, the programmed settings for all sound parameters including volume can be selected and reset to the manufacturer default setting.
In the "Audio" menu, the difference between the volume of the audio signal and the voice output for navigation, voice control system (VCS) and traffic announcements can be adjusted. This enables the voice output to be easily heard even at high audio playback.
The volume of the voice output can also be changed during a voice output.

Tone setting
The COMAND operating, display and controller unit allows manual tone settings (bass, treble, balance, fader) for each audio source. Pressing the main button for the sound setting in the left panel area leads to the "Sound" menu, in which the desired settings can be made. They can be adjusted separately for each function (e.g. CD, radio reception, traffic announcements). The following sound adjustments are possible:
^ Language
^ Ambient
^ Driver

If the tone emphasis is changed (balance, fader) the volume relationship between the individual speakers changes relative to each other. "Balance" and "Fader" settings can be performed by pressing the main function key for sound distribution in the left control panel.

Speed-dependent volume control (SDV) and Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO)
Speed-dependent volume control (SDV) and dynamic range optimization (DRO) are used to adapt the volume to the noise level in the vehicle interior. In the process the vehicle speed signal and signal input to the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) are used as a relationship indicator.

Mute
If the user presses the "MUTE" function key, the audio source currently audible is muted.
