S110/2 Left steering wheel gear shifter
S111/2 Right steering wheel gear shifter

The multifunction steering wheel serves to increase active driving safety in road traffic in combination with the instrument cluster (A1). The driver can concentrate on the traffic without distraction when controlling and operating various vehicle components. The multifunction steering wheel allows the driver to operate and interrogate the following systems:
- Radio and navigation systems
- Fault and warning messages
- Interior illumination
- Trip computer
- ASSYST
- Distronic
- Telematics/E-Call (USA)
- Cellular telephone
- Steering wheel gear shift

Function requirements:
- Circuit 15R ON

Only systems and functions with which the vehicle is equipped are displayed. If a system is not installed, it is skipped when the system selection button (S110s3) on the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) is pressed.

The system selected by the driver is displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13) on the instrument cluster (A1). In addition, the fanfare horns (H2) can be actuated by means of the impact plate of the multifunction steering wheel.

Only the trip computer features a load mode function. If changing to this system, the submenu that was selected last displayed.

Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
In system selection button (S110s3) and Scroll forward and backward buttons (S110s1) are included in the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110).

Each of the systems can be called with the system selection button (S110s3). It is possible to "scroll" forward and backward in the systems.

Within a system, you can scroll forwards and backwards (S110s1) to view additional submenus.

Right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
The right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) contains the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3), and the + and - button, setting of specific functions and volume control (S111s1). A telephone call can be accepted or terminated with the accept/ terminate phone call button (S111s3).

The volume for the system currently active can be adjusted with the + and button, setting of specific functions and volume control - (S111s1). Furthermore, it is possible for instance to extend or shorten the OFF delay time for exterior lights in the system settings.

Left steering wheel gear shifter (S110/2) and right steering wheel gear shifter (S111/2)
For program selection "M" (manual program) at the transmission mode switch (S16/5) the individual gears of the transmission can be shifted directly via the left steering wheel gear shifter (S110/2) or the right steering wheel gear shifter (S111/2).

For program selection "S" (sports program) or "C" (comfort program) at the transmission mode switch (S16/5) the following functions can be actuated via the left steering wheel gear shifter (S110/2) or the right steering wheel gear shifter (S111/2):
- Adjusting the shifting range, to which the transmission shifts up.
- Shifting into the gear from which the vehicle can be favorably accelerated or decelerated.
