Operating the radio (A2) at the multifunction steering wheel (MFL)
The left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) as well as the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) can be used to operate various systems controlled over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) and display information on these systems. These include:
- Audio systems (radio (A2), CD disk drive)
- Telephone

The entire exchange of data between the instrument cluster (A1) and radio (A2) occurs over the Controller Area Network Bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B).
All signals from the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) at the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) are read in by the steering column module (N80) over the local interconnect network (LIN) and sent to the CAN-B.
The instrument cluster (A1) detects the coded messages and causes the system currently being activated or operated (audio or telephone) to be shown on the multifunction display (A1p13).
