MODEL 203.0 /2 /7 as of 24.4.04
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

Control of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) with the aid of the multifunction steering wheel (MFL)
Using the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) as well as the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1), various systems can be operated via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) and information on the systems can be displayed. These include:
- Audio systems (radio, CD drive)
- Telephone

The data exchange between the instrument cluster (A1) and the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is performed via the local interconnect network (LIN) bus, the MOST and the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B).

All the button operations on the MFL are read in voltage-coded by the steering column module (N80) via the LIN-bus and placed on the CAN-B.

The instrument cluster (A1) detects the encoded messages and via the multifunction display (A1p13) causes the system currently being activated or operated (audio or telephone) to be displayed.

At the same time, the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) processes commands for controlling the functions within the MOST system, converts them into light pulses and thus actuates the necessary system components, e.g. the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6).
