Campaign No. 2007010010, August 2007

Revision Date purpose

A 8/17/07 Update to engine oil specification

- Initial issue

TO: ALL MERCEDES-BENZ CENTERS

SUBJECT:
MODEL 203, 211 4-MATIC
MODEL YEAR 2006-2007

REPLACE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK (M272 ENGINE)

This Service Campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that on affected vehicles the engine oil dipstick is incorrect. This could lead to inconsistency between the dipstick reading and the oil level message in the instrument cluster. Dealers will replace the engine oil dipstick and top off the engine oil.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired. If necessary, repair the subject vehicle during the vehicle's next service.

^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the procedure steps exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 33,543 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

1. Replace engine oil dipstick.

2. Check engine oil level; correct as necessary.
