GF82.20-P-1003SK Switching Switch And Controls Illumination On/off, Function
The signal to actuate dimming of the switch and controls
illumination is sent from the instrument cluster (A1). The instrument cluster (A1) transmits the signal in cycles of 50 ms over the Control Area Network bus, class B (interior) (CAN-B). The affected control units (e.g. radio (A2)) generate a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal in percent increments from 0 to 100%. The affected control units apply the PWM signal as follows:
^ If the CAN-B is active, this signal is transmitted within 50 ms.
^ After wake-up of CAN-B, the instrument cluster (A1) transmits the last value set and stored in circuit 58d for a period of 120 ms. After this, the current value is transmitted.
In generating the value stored at circuit 58d, the instrument cluster (A1) evaluates only the "standing lamp ON" signal from the driver side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). With a "standing lamp ON" signal, the value at circuit 58d is set to > 0%. With a "standing lamp OFF" signal, the value at circuit 58d is set to 0%. If the value at circuit 58d > 0%, the instrument cluster (A1) first transmits the message "circuit 58d > 0 %" to CAN-B. After successful transmission of the message or after 10 unsuccessful attempts to transmit the message "circuit 58d > 0 %", the illumination in the instrument cluster (A1) switches on. When CAN-B is deactivated, the instrument cluster (A1) stores the current value. When the standing lamps are switched on, the switch and controls illumination is continuously on. When the standing lamps are switched on, the switch and controls illumination can be dimmed as required.
The switch and controls illumination for the exterior lamp switch (S1) is not dimmed. It is switched on with "circuit 15 ON".
The parking lamps have no influence on the switch and controls illumination.
Switch and controls illumination at the overhead control panel control unit (N70)
The switch and controls illumination is switched on when the doors are opened or closed. If one or both doors is opened or closed, the switch and controls illumination is switched on at the switch at the overhead control panel control unit (N70). The brightness of the switch and controls illumination is set to 100%. The switch and controls illumination remains switched on for approx. 30 seconds. If, during this time, one or both doors is opened or closed, the switched-on time period of 30 seconds starts over again. When the vehicle is locked, the switch and controls illumination is immediately switched off.
If an operating module (e.g. radio (A2)) is manually switched on, the switch and controls illumination is set to the brighter daytime setting for "circuit 15 OFF". With "Circuit 15R ON", the signal from the rain/light sensor (B38/2) is evaluated. This signal is read from the overhead control panel control unit (N70).
The switch and controls illumination strictly follows the behavior of the signal of circuit 58d from the instrument cluster (A1):
^ Circuit 58d > 0 %:"Switch and controls illumination ON"
^ Circuit 58d = 0 %: "Switch and controls illumination OFF"
