GF91.60-P-4018-01R Restraint Systems Control Unit - Task

The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) has the following tasks:
^ Self-test with circuit 15R ON and continuous system monitoring while driving
^ Stores faults in fault memory
^ Sends stored faults and status of supplemental restraint system (SRS) to STAR DIAGNOSIS
^ Front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor
^ Actuation of airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15)
^ Actuation of airbag Off automatic child seat recognition indicator lamp (E16) via lower control panel control unit (N72)
^ Recording of crash logs Evaluation of integrated roll sensor
^ Emergency opening of central locking (ZV)
^ Detection and evaluation of impact according to type and severity over the integrated rollover sensor and external sensors:
- Left sidebag sensor (A53)
- Right sidebag sensor (A54)
- Driver-side frontal acceleration sensor (B48/1)
- Passenger-side frontal acceleration sensor (B48/2)

^ Ignition of following squibs, depending on severity of impact:
- Driver emergency tensioning retractor squib (R12/1)
- Front passenger emergency tensioning retractor squib (R12/2)
- Front passenger airbag squib 1 (R12/4)
- Front passenger airbag squib 2 (R12/5)
- Driver airbag ignition squib 1 (R12/13)
- Driver airbag ignition squib 2 (R12/14)
- Left front sidebag squib (R12/20)
- Right front sidebag squib (R12/21)
- Driver kneebag squib (R12/25) (for code (494) USA version)

^ Recognition of seat belt status over:
- Left front seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/3)
- Right front seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/4)

^ Engine switch-off when airbag deployed over ME-SFI control unit (N3/10)
^ Providing backup power for igniting squibs when voltage supply interrupted for min. 150 ms.
^ Actuation of digital crash display to transmit an emergency call following rollover or an airbag deployment (for code (494) USA version).
