VII. Water Leak in Area of Rear Window
VII. Penetration by water into rear window areaCause 1:
Contact pressure of rear window to upper Vario roof too low.
Procedure:
Increase contact pressure of rear window.
Water drops on rear window buffer (B-Figure 17).
1. Perform rain test.
2. Check adjustment of rear window on Vario roof, adjust if necessary (See WIS-document AR67.20-P-3000-06R).
3. Perform leakage test.
Cause 2:
Retaining plate (B-Figure 18) for upper side rear window seal to rear window frame leaky (screw holes).
Procedure:
Plug screw holes.
1. Perform rain test.
2. Move Vario roof to intermediate position and secure (See WIS-document AR77.50-P-3000-01R).
Use Special Tool "Support".
3. Remove retaining plate (B-Figure 18).
4. Plug screw holes. Use MB universal sealant.
5. Reinstall in opposite order.
6. Perform leakage test.
Cause 3:
Routing of electric cables incorrect at pivot point, wedge (A-Figure 20, magnified section) of upper rear window sealing does not hit in funnel (B-Figure 20, magnified section) C-pillar sealing, funnel (B-Figure 20, magnified section) deformed.
Procedure:
Check cable routing, apply lubricant to bottom of wedge (A-Figure 20, magnified section), glue on funnel (B-Figure 20, magnified section).
Water drops at rotation point (C-Figure 19) of rear window.
1. Perform rain test.
2. Move Vario roof to intermediate position and secure (See WIS-document AR77.50-P-3000-01R).
Use Special Tool "Support".
3. Check electric cable routing, correct if necessary.
In the event of cable excess, slide cable harness downward in cable duct.
4. Apply Special sliding roof lubricant to bottom of wedge (A-Figure 20, magnified section).
5. Fasten funnel (B-Figure 20, magnified section) to C-pillar with glue.
Dotted line.
6. Reinstall in opposite order.
7. Perform leakage test.

Procedure/Cause 3:
^ A Wedge
^ B Funnel
Cause 4: Seal of upper side rear window corner to rear window frame leaky.
Procedure:
Seal seal of upper side rear window corner to rear window frame.
1. Perform rain test.
2. Move Vario roof to intermediate position and secure (See WIS-document AR77.50-P-3000-01R).
3. Remove retaining plate (B-Figure 21).
4. Partially remove seal in corner area (Arrows Figure 21).
Do not remove seal.
5. Completely remove old sealent.
6. Spray joint between sealing lip and rear window.
Use sealant gun and window sealant for dabbing.
7. Plug screw holes. Apply MB universal sealant.
8. Reinstall in opposite order.
9. Perform leakage test.
