VIII. Noises in area of front lock of Vario roof when locking (up to VIN number 001452)Cause:
Pin missing at pad.
Procedure:
Install pad with pin at front lock of Vario roof (1-Figure 10).
Metallic knocking in area of front lock of Vario roof when locking.
On vehicles up to VIN F001452, the pad did not include the pin. However, in cases of noise conditions as indicated above the pad with pin can be subsequently installed.

Risk of injury, moving parts can pinch, crush or in extreme cases sever extremities.
1. Open the vario roof until the lock is accessible. The vario roof remains in this position for 7 minutes (stop mode) after release of roof switch. The stop mode can be extended by an additional 7 minutes by operating the roof switch again.
2. Partially loose the retainers at the left and right sides until the shim (1-Figure 10, magnified view) can be glued in place. Do not completely remove the lock.
3. Glue the shim on the lock (1-Figure 10, magnified view).
4. Install in the reverse order, tightening torque is 10 Nm.
Do not replace the entire front lock of Vario roof with new parts. It is not necessary to replace the lock assembly as the rubber pad with pin is available separately.
