AR83.55-P-5300R Remove/Install Refrigerant Compressor
DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.
- Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
- Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.
- Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or open flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.
CAUTION: Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work.
1.1 Switch ignition off and remove key from electronic ignition switch EIS
1.2 Switch motor off and remove Keyless Go card from vehicle
NOTE: With CODE (889) Keyless Go Keep Keyless Go card out of transmitting range.
2 Discharge air conditioning system
NOTE: Recycle refrigerant and note quantity of extracted compressor oil.
3 Remove lower engine compartment lining
4 Drain coolant
5 Remove power steering pump
6 Remove fan shroud
7 Remove pressure line (3) from refrigerant compressor and put to one side
- Seal openings using sealing plugs.
See "Special Tools" given below.
NOTE: Installation: Replace O-ring and coat with compressor oil.
- Bolt of refrigerant lines to refrigerant compressor: 22 N.m
8 Remove suction pipe (4) from refrigerant compressor and put to one side
- Seal openings using sealing plugs.
See "Special Tools" given below.
NOTE: Installation: Replace O-ring and coat with compressor oil.
- Bolt of refrigerant lines to refrigerant compressor: 22 N.m
9 Unscrew bracket from electrical connector (5) and disconnect
10 Unscrew bolts (2)
- Bolt of refrigerant compressor to bracket: 20 N.m
11 Remove refrigerant compressor (1)
NOTE: Installation: Correct compressor oil level in refrigerant compressor.
- When replacing refrigerant compressor:
Pour additional quantity of compressor oil into air conditioning refrigerant circuit: 10 cu.cm
CAUTION: If refrigerant compressor is replaced due to internal damage, replace expansion valve.
12 Install in the reverse order
NOTE: Evacuate and fill air conditioning system after installing fluid reservoir. Pour new compressor oil into refrigerant circuit, using noted filling quantity.
13 Removing and installing fluid reservoir.
CAUTION: Fluid reservoir must always be replaced if refrigerant circuit has been opened.
