XI. Water Leak in Area of C-Pillar Water Drain Hose

XI. Penetration by water for water drain hose C-pillar area

Cause 1:





Water drain hose (B-Figure 30) not positioned correctly.

Procedure:

Align water drain hose (B-Figure 30).

1. Perform rain test.

2. Loosen nut (A-Figure 30).

3. Align water drain hose (B-Figure 30).

4. Reinstall in opposite order.

5. Perform leakage test.

Cause 2:

Seam sealing on C-pillar body in white leaky at top and side.

Procedure:

Reseal C-pillar body in white.

1. Perform rain test.

2. Move Vario roof to intermediate position and secure (See WIS-document AR77.50-P-3000-01R).

Use Special Tool "Support".

3. Apply seam sealant. Use MB body sealant for sealing seams (paintable).

Dotted line

4. Carefully smooth seam sealant.

Observe drying time.

5. Close Vario roof.

6. Perform leakage test.





Procedure/Cause 2:

Seam sealant

Cause 2:

C-pillar seal leaky, water drain area leaky.

Procedure:

Seal rain duct in C-pillar seal.

1. Perform rain test.

2. Move Vario roof to intermediate position and secure (See WIS-document AR77.50-P-3000-01R).

3. Remove cover (See WIS-document AR77.50-P-6763R).

4. Remove nuts.

5. Carefully lift seal.

approx.10...15 mm





6. Seal rain duct (dotted line Figure 32).

Use hand pressure gun and window sealant for dabbing.

7. Reinstall in opposite order.

8. Leakage test

Cause 4:

C-pillar corner seal shaped part leaky.

Procedure:

Reseal C-pillar corner seal shaped part.

Penetration by water below molded part for sealing corner of C-pillar
