Complaint:
Engine surges at idle and/or stalls when driving slowly or when maneuvering.
Attachments
Cause:
The hose between the engine and purge line for the activated charcoal canister behind the left cylinder head (in the direction of travel) can be dislocated (picture).
As a result the engine draws in unmetered air which can influence the behavior at idling speed.
Remedy:
1. Remove left air filter box (AR 09.10-P-1150SVK)
(Op. item 009-1030-002 004 WU)
2. Connect hose and useing a click clamp or suitable screw clamp secure on the engine side (picture).
NOTE:
Modified hose with tighter fit phased into series production in May 2003.
