Engine Oil Pressure: Testing and Inspection



Test Oil Pressure

Shown on Engine 113.991:





Remove/Install
1 Unclip engine cover
2 Unscrew screw plug (4) with sealing ring (5) at timing case cover

CAUTION: Installation: Replace sealing ring, in order to preclude leakages.

3 Connect oil pressure gauge (1) with connection fitting (2) at timing case cover

Inspecting
4 Inspect engine oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary
5 Connect remote thermometer (6)

NOTE: Guide temperature sensor through the dipstick guide tube into the engine oil.

DANGER:
- Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving off by itself.
- Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.


6 Start engine, measure oil pressure

NOTE:
- Bring engine to operating temperature (approx. 80 degrees C).
- When the throttle is opened, the oil pressure must rise without any delay.

7 Install in the reverse order
