Activation of the Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) System with DAS Software 02/05

Note:
For Information Only

While performing the procedure to activate the Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) system using STAR Diagnosis software 02/05, the result "Not Successful" is always shown even if the activation was successful. This occurs from either of the following STAR Diagnosis menus:

^ Control Units --> Chassis --> SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control --> Initial Start-up After Maintenance

^ Control Units --> Chassis --> SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control --> Initial Start-up After Repair

It can nonetheless be determined during the activation, whether the activation is successful or not. In order to verify that the activation was in fact successful, check the actual values of the pressure sensors. If ALL of the pressure sensor's actual values match the specified values, then the activation was successful. If any or all of the pressure sensor's actual values do not match the specified values, then further SBC diagnostics are required.

Successful Activation of the SBC system

^ The actual values of the pressure sensor match the specified values ((Greater then) 50.0 bar).

^ STAR Diagnosis will request that the ignition be turned off and on again.

^ The following results will appear in STAR Diagnosis:

Important Note:
- The brake system could not be activated

- The brake system is inoperative

Possible Remedy

- Read out fault memory

Continue with key F2

Note:
In this case, the above two results and possible remedy can be ignored.

Unsuccessful Activation of the SBC system

^ The actual values of the pressure sensors do NOT match the specified values.

^ After the actual values are shown the following result in STAR Diagnosis will be shown as soon as the F2 key is pressed:

The actual values are not OK.

Important Note:
- The brake system could not be activated

-- The brake system is inoperative

Possible Remedy:

- Read out fault memory

Continue with key F2

Note:
In this case, the system could not be activated and further SBC diagnostics are required.

Note:
This software error will be rectified with STAR Diagnosis software release 03/05.
