Body - Cracking Noise From The B-Pillar Area

Cracking Noise at B-pillar in Area of the Seat Belt Height Adjuster





If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles regarding a cracking noise from the B-pillar in the area of the seat belt height adjuster when driving on rough roads, the expanded foam panel for sound insulation in the B-pillar (Figure 1) may be incorrectly positioned coming in contact with the B-pillar sheet metal. As of April 2004 production, the production tooling has been modified to address this possible occurrence.

1. Remove the B-pillar trim panel.





2. With a screwdriver or pry bar (Figure 2), bend the expanded foam panel upwards.

3. Reinstall the B-pillar trim panel.

The following allowable labor operations should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair.
