Daytime Running Lamp: Description and Operation
GF82.10-P-3005T Daytime Running Lamp Actuation, Function
Component Identification:
Function requirements
^ The rotary light switch (S1) is set to position 0.
^ The "driving lights light switch" function is set to "Continuous" in the instrument cluster (A1). In the national versions Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Canada this function is factory-preset based on legal stipulations and cannot be disabled.
^ Terminal 61 ON
Function
Actuation can only be performed when the engine is running (Circuit 61 on). The EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) and the instrument cluster (A1) signal "daytime running lamps On" via CAN class B to the following control units:
^ Driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
^ Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)
^ right SAM control unit (N10/11)
The driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the left standing lamp and parking lamp (E1e3) as well as the left low beam (E1e2) in the left front lamp unit (E1). The passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11) also actuates the same components on the right-hand side.
The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) actuates the taillamps in the left taillamp (E3) and the right taillamp (E4) as well as (in model 211.0) the left license plate lamp (E19/1) and the right license plate lamp (E19/2).
In model 211.2 the left license plate lamp (E19/1) and the right license plate lamp (E19/2) are actuated via the rear door control unit (N111).
The daytime running lamps have a higher priority than automatic driving lights enabled by the rain/light sensor (B38/2).
In those countries with a statutory daytime running light regulation, only the headlamp flasher is permitted in daytime running lights mode, and not the high beam. High beam is only permissible when the daytime running lights can be manually set using the rotary light switch (S1).
For vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch, the signal "daytime running lamps On" is transmitted by the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) to the trailer connection unit [AAG] control unit (N28/1), which applies the signal "daytime running lamps On" to the trailer hitch socket (13-pin) (X58).
