Insertion tool





1 Deburr edge of mounting hole for the crankshaft radial sealing ring (8) on timing case cover (10).
2 Place crankshaft radial sealing ring (8) on the insertion tool (9).

Do not use grease. Grease prevents the inclined webs on the sealing lip transporting back the engine oil.

Do not lubricate lip on crankshaft radial sealing ring (8). Do not moisten crankshaft journal with oil.

3 Push insertion tool (9) onto the crankshaft.

Ensure via the turning movement that the groove on the insertion tool (9) matches the parallel key (7) in the crankshaft. Drive the insertion tool (9) in if required, using light hammer blows until the center bolt (4) can be screwed in.

4 Insert the insertion tool (9) with center screw (4) and blank (5) as far as it goes.

The crankshaft radial sealing ring (8) must be positioned at right angles to the crank journal otherwise a proper seal is not assured.
