GF82.60-P-2003T Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
MODEL 211.0 /2 up to 31.5.06
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
All volume and sound adjustments are performed on the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) and transmitted via the MOST to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1). A distinction must be made between audio and service sources. Audio sources are, for example:
- Radio
- CD player
Service sources are for example:
- Traffic radio announcements
- Telephone and code (813b) voice control system (VCS)
- Voice output with navigation system
Volume setting
The volume of whatever audio source is set can be adjusted using the rotary switch on the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56). It can be adjusted separately in all audio and service areas. With the RESET function, the predefined settings for all sound parameters including volume can be selected and reset to the plant adjustment.
In the "Audio" menu the difference between the volume of the audio signal and the voice output for navigation, with code (813) voice control system (VCS) and traffic announcements can be adjusted. This means that voice output remains audible even in the case of loud audio output.
The volume of the voice output can also be changed during a voice output.
Official emergency broadcasts have priority over all other audio sources. Settings made during navigation voice output apply as the absolute level for the subsequent navigation voice output.
Speed-dependent volume control/dynamic range optimization
Via the speed-dependent volume control (GAL) and automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO) the volume is adapted to the vehicle interior noise backdrop. In the process the vehicle speed signal and signal input to the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) are used as a relationship indicator.
Mute (volume reduction)
If the user presses the "Mute" key, the audio source currently being listened to is muted, CC drive and Audio CD drive change to pause status.
Tone setting
The radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) enables manual sound adjustments for each audio source. Pressing the main button for the sound setting in the left panel area leads to the "Sound" menu, in which the desired settings can be made.
They can be set separately for each function, such as radio, CD, cassette, traffic announcements, code (813) voice control system (VCS), telephone, navigation, TV and MP3-CD. The following sound adjustments are possible:
- Language
- Ambiance
- Driver
With a change in sound emphasis (balance, fader) the ratio of the volume of the individual speakers changes. The "Balance" and "Fading" adjustments can be achieved by pressing the main key for sound distribution in the left control panel. Processing of the signals for the required volume adjustments and tone adjustments is performed by the audio component integrated into the audio gateway control unit (N93/1). If the vehicle is equipped with code (810) Sound System, additional spatial sound adjustments and a further final amplification of the audio signals are possible by means of the digital sound processor with its expanded sound processing and amplifier stages.
