GF82.61-P-4001T Destination Guidance In Non-Digitalized Map Area, Function
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
- with CODE (527) Navigation module for COMMAND
The navigation processor for the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56), with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio, is integrated into the operating unit. With the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3), with code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation), the external navigation module is referred to as a navigation processor (N41/1).
When traveling outside the digitized map area (e.g. company grounds, multi-level car parks, field paths, etc.), but still within the CD-ROM map boundaries, the navigation processor (N41/1) switches over to "Route guidance in non-digitized map area". The message "OFF ROAD" appears on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) display. The message "OFF MAP" is displayed if the vehicle is outside of the CD-ROM map boundary (outside the country).
In both cases, only the basic position finding continues to operate with correction using the GPS data. Limited destination guidance takes place while only specifying:
^ Distance from the destination as the crow flies
^ Direction to the destination (as an arrow)
After reentering the digitized map area, the system automatically continues with "Destination guidance in digitized map area". The GPS position is used to help determine the roads on which the vehicle could be located. During this process a slight delay in the route guidance may result.
When the message "OFF MAP" appears, complete destination guidance can be continued by inserting the proper CD-ROM for the foreign country.
The time synchronization between the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and the instrument cluster (A1) must be performed on journeys in different "time zones" (time shifts, time changes).
