[1] Monitoring of catalytic converter temperature during particulate filter regeneration: Catalytic converter temperature is not OK.
Test 1: Regeneration of diesel particulate filter when driving
1. Regeneration of diesel particulate filter when driving
Warning:Should regeneration be performed due to oil loss (e.g. in turbocharger) or is oil present in the exhaust system?Important note:Any oil present in the exhaust system burns due to the increased temperatures during diesel particulate filter regeneration. This can cause heavy smoke formation. If an oil loss is known of, regeneration may not be started manually.

Regeneration of diesel particulate filter when driving
Test prerequisites
- Ignition ON
- Coolant temperature > 60° C
- Coolant temperature:Warning! Communication with ECU required.
Test sequence
- Carry out control unit reset.
- Perform drive with two people.(Always observe road traffic regulations.)
Important note
- This function for regenerating the diesel particulate filter while driving may only be started if the vehicle can be driven for approx. 15 min without any extended stops.
- Driving on a freeway or a country road is best suited for this purpose.
- A period of constant driving is the only way to ensure that the high temperatures and exhaust volume flow rate required for regeneration are present for the necessary length of time.
