Test 1: Possible cause and remedy

Test 1.1: Check smooth engine running.

Test 1.2: Check component B4/6 (Rail pressure sensor).

Test 1.3: Check component B2/5 (Hot film mass air flow sensor).

Test prerequisite

- Engine at idle
- Actuation: Test of compressionOK
IMPORTANT NOTEIn the case of complaints related to a cold start or to the warm-up phase, do not bring the engine to operating temperature, but proceed as appropriate for the complaint.Communication with ECU required

1.2. Check component B4/6 (Rail pressure sensor).
Check power supply of component B4/6 (Rail pressure sensor).

- Adapter cable611 589 03 63 00
Test sequence

- Switch off ignition.
- Detach coupling at component B4/6 (Rail pressure sensor).
- Connect adapter cable between component B4/6 (Rail pressure sensor) and engine wiring harness.
- Measure direct voltage with multimeter between sockets 1 and 3
- Switch on ignition.
Specified value:

- Voltage[4,9...5,2] V

The measurement value is not OK.Possible cause and remedy

- Test voltage supply of component B4/6 (Rail pressure sensor) for Open circuit.
- The voltage supply of component B4/6 (Rail pressure sensor) has short circuit to positive.
- Check supply voltage to sensors on control unit N3/9 (CDI control unit).
End of test

1.3. Check component B2/5 (Hot film mass air flow sensor).
Check component B2/5 (Hot film mass air flow sensor) using actual value.
Test prerequisite

- Engine at idle
Explanation of the following test

- During the test, the air mass must be in the green range.
Communication with ECU required
