Function
If the vehicle speed drops below approx.5 km/h, the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) switches the wiper motor (M6/1) down one level. If intermittent wiping is active the longest wiper interval is selected.
In vehicles with a rain/light sensor code (345a), the system switches over to rain sensor mode if the vehicle speed drops below the speed threshold.

If the vehicle accelerates and the speed exceeds approximately 8 km/h again, the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) automatically switches the wiper motor (M6/1) back to the wiper level that has been selected using the combination switch (S4).

If a wiper request is issued (intermittent, level 1 or 2 wiping) the speed reduction is suspended until the speed drops below the speed threshold again. The speed reduction is not suspended by wiping or touch wiping.
