DANGER:
Risk of explosion from gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury from caustic burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead-acid batteries
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and eye protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers


1 Connect quiescent current retention device

See "Commercially Available Tools" given below.

2 Disconnect ground cable of battery
3 Turn back floor covering in front passenger footwell
4 Take out cover (1)
5 Unscrew nuts (2)
6 Remove mounting plate (3) from vehicle floor
7 Disconnect connectors (4)
8 Unscrew bolts (5)
9 Remove PTS control module (N62) from guides
10 Install in the reverse order

11 Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase
- Stored faults which may be caused by disconnecting cables or by simulation during removal and installation or test operations, must be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the operations

12 Make electrical system operational

NOTE: Only if no quiescent current retention device was used
