GF82.95-P-2003PM Emergency Call Actuation, Function

MODEL 203.0 /2 /7
- with CODE (359) TELE AID emergency call system
- up to Model Year 8
- TELE AID Notruf

In the event that a driver has an emergency situation in a remote area, a service representative can use the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) to survey the status of the vehicle's internal systems, and based on the findings, initiate appropriate emergency aid services. A Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (TELE AID) emergency call can be triggered automatically or manually.

Manual emergency call
A manual emergency call can be made at any time. A manual call is triggered by pressing the pushbutton labeled with "SOS" (S93/3). This button is integrated in the overhead control panel (OCP) control unit (N70). The SOS pushbutton (S93/3) signal is read in by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) over a discrete line. To trigger a manual call, the pushbutton must be held down longer than 0.5 s.

The red LED will blink while the emergency call is being placed. After this, an emergency call message is sent immediately to the nearest emergency call center.

automatic alarm call
An automatic emergency call can be made with "Circuit 15R ON". A vehicle crash is automatically detected by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7). The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) receives the crash information by means of a direct, digital crash signal from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) and also (redundant signal) via the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B). In the event of an accident, an emergency call is automatically sent out immediately. An emergency call is sent out regardless of the severity of the accident. The red LED will blink while the emergency call is being automatically placed due to a crash.

During an emergency call, the following data are automatically transmitted as an SMS:
- Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) data
- Phone number
- Vehicle data (e.g. circuit/terminal status)
- Crash information (accident severity), for an automatic emergency call only
- Position data
- Direction of travel and speed

The user can now get in contact with the emergency call center by telephone. After the conversation is completed, the connection is deactivated by the emergency call center. In the case of both a manual and automatic emergency call, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) will deactivate the emergency call request after 5 unsuccessful attempts to make an emergency call.

It is only permissible to trigger a TELE AID emergency call in case of an emergency; violations are a punishable offense.
