Operation of the Steering Column Module
Operation Of The Steering Column Module
The steering column module (N80) has the following operations:
- Scans the multifunctional steering wheel modulator:
Left multifunctional steering wheel modulator (S110),
Switching of the modulator back and forth (S110s1),
System selection modulator (S110s3),
Fanfare modulator (S110s5),
Right multifunctional modulator group (S111)
Modulator + and -, programming of specific functions and volume control (S111s1),
Modulator for answering and ending telephone conversations (S111s3), modulator for fanfare (S111s5),
- Scans combination switch (S4),
- Scans steering column positions, high, low, forwards and backwards (S59/1s1),
- Scans touch shift TPM with variable speed limiters (S40/4)
- Scans the switch SBS (S93/2): this switch is stored in a housing unit together with the touch shift with speed limiter (S40/4),
- Scans and initializes the steering wheel sensor (N49)
- Transmission of the ignition and test current over the spiral contact coil fanfare and airbag (A45) for the ignition capsule on the driver (R12/3) airbag (AB).
NOTE:
- The steering column module (N80) is connected with the engine compartment CAN and the passenger compartment CAN.
- The steering column module (N80) does not serve as a cross section (gateway) between the two bus systems: therefore, no data transmissions between the two bus systems are exchanged over the steering column module (N80).
