Cruise Control Module: Service and Repair



AR54.21-P-0005R Remove/Install Distronic Control Module







1 Switch emergency call system to Service mode.

NOTE: Only on vehicles with TELE AID (code 855).

- Switch on ignition.
- Switch on telephone.
- Enter *#4610# on telephone handset.
- Confirm message "No telematic service" with OK.
- Switch off ignition.
- Switch off telephone.

2 Connect quiescent current retention unit

DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from electrolytic gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury with caustic burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead-add batteries
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and eye protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.


3 Disconnect ground cable from on-board electrical system battery in trunk and from starter battery in engine compartment

CAUTION:
- First the on-board electrical system battery and then the starter battery.

4 Remove lower paneling from right A-pillar
5 Fold back floor covering in passenger's footwell and remove polystyrene panel
6 Detach right mounting plate (1) and fold out into footwell

NOTE:
Hold top of mounting plate and fold into footwell.

7 Remove connectors (2a) and connection (2b)
8 Unscrew bolts (3) and remove DTR control module (N63/1) from mounting plate
9 Install in the reverse order
10 Deactivate Service mode in emergency call system.

NOTE: Only on vehicles with TELE AID (code 855).

- Switch on ignition.
- Confirm message "Exit Service mode" on handset with OK.
- Confirm message "No telematic service" with OK.
- Switch off ignition.

11 Perform basic setting with STAR Diagnosis
