Replace Radial Seal Rings On Side Of Rear Axle Center Assembly






Remove

DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

CAUTION: While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surface of aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected

1 Remove rear axle shaft (37)
2 Pry the radial sealing ring out of the rear axle center assembly (50) using a suitable tool

Install
3 Press new radial sealing ring (32a) into the housing by means of a drift (03)

NOTE: Coat lip of radial sealing ring with universal hypoid gear oil.

4 Replace circlip (37o) on inner splined section of rear axle shaft (37)
5 Install rear axle shaft (37).
6 Check oil level in rear axle center assembly and correct if necessary

NOTE: Mixing of old universal hypoid gear oil and the new FE hypoid gear oil should be avoided due to the better fuel economy.
