Removing

Component Identification:

1 Attach retainer wrench (040) at flange of drive pinion with bearing cap and clamp in vise.
2 Slacken self-locking hexagon collar nut and unscrew.

Component Identification:

3 Detach flange (41) of drive pinion using puller (049).

Component Identification:

4 Clamp drive pinion together with bearing cap in a vise.

Use clamping jaws.

5 Press out radial seal (42) with a suitable tool.
6 Check flange of drive pinion for galling and replace if necessary.

Install

Component Identification:

7 Coat sealing lip of new radial seal (42) with universal hypoid gear oil.
8 Use drift (042) to press radial seal (42) flush into bearing cap.

Component Identification:

9 Coat splines in flange (41) and at drive pinion with universal hypoid gear oil.
10 Press flange (41) onto drive pinion with bearing cap (47).

Component Identification:

11 Clamp retaining wrench (040) in vise.
12 Coat contact surface of hexagon collar nut at flange with universal hypoid gear oil.
13 Screw on and tighten self-locking hexagon collar nut

Replace self-locking hexagon collar nut.

14 Remove retaining wrench (040).
